Pest control in Singapore

For HDB flats, condos, landed homes and offices. Tell us what you’re dealing with and we’ll pass it to a partner pest-control firm, which inspects, quotes and carries out the treatment.

Know the pest? Go straight to its page for the signs, the treatment options and how to prepare. Not sure, or dealing with more than one? A general treatment may suit.

General pest control

Not every job is one pest. These are the usual ways a general treatment is set up.

One-off treatment

An inspection and treatment for a problem you have now, with any follow-up visits the pest needs. Most homes start here.

Regular service

Scheduled visits, often monthly or quarterly, that inspect and treat for the common pests before they become a problem. Offices and landed homes near greenery often choose this.

Before moving in

A treatment while a home is empty, before furniture goes in, when every cabinet and corner is easy to reach.

Not sure what it is

Droppings, bites or damage you can’t identify. Describe what you’re seeing, add a photo if you can, and the firm will work out what it is on inspection.

Homes and offices

HDB flats and condos. Pests often travel between units through drains, pipes and service ducts, so treatment focuses on the kitchen, bathrooms and entry points. Common areas belong to the town council or the management corporation, and it helps to tell them if neighbours have the same problem.

Landed homes. Gardens, drains, roof spaces and a house that sits on soil mean more ways in, so treatment usually covers the outside as well as the inside, and termites deserve a regular check.

Offices. Pantries, bins, ceilings and cabling are the usual trouble spots. Work can usually be scheduled out of hours, and many offices keep a regular service. If you lease the space, involve building management.

What affects the price

We don’t publish prices. The partner firm gives you a price after an inspection, or from what you tell it when the job is simple. It depends on:

  • Which pests, and how established they are.
  • The size and type of property, and how many areas need treating.
  • The treatment methods, and how many visits they take.
  • Whether it is a one-off treatment or a regular service.
  • Access, and whether the work has to be done out of hours.

Pest control and NEA licensing

In Singapore, companies that do vector control work, which covers pests such as mosquitoes, rats and cockroaches, must be registered with the National Environment Agency (NEA) as Vector Control Operators. The people doing the work must hold NEA licences or certificates. Before work starts, you can ask the firm for its registration details and check them against NEA's list of registered operators.

Questions

What does general pest control cover?

Usually the common crawling pests, such as cockroaches and ants, and often a check for rodents and mosquito breeding. Termites and bed bugs normally need their own treatment. Ask the firm exactly which pests its general treatment covers.

Do I need to be home during treatment?

Usually someone needs to let the firm in and show it the problem areas. For some treatments you’ll be asked to stay out of treated rooms for a while afterwards. The firm will tell you when it books the visit.

Is pest control safe with children and pets?

Firms choose methods and placements to suit the household, such as baits in cracks or locked stations rather than open sprays. Tell the firm about children, pets, fish tanks and anyone with asthma when you book.

What if my pest isn’t listed?

Send an enquiry anyway and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll check whether a partner firm handles it and tell you either way.
